WESER--Bremen; Galveston, 23.I.1854 WESER--Bremen: Galveston, 3.XII.1854 ***************
The first reference above is taken from the passenger list. It gives the name of the passengers, the place they came from, the name of the ship on which they came, and the year they came. The final notation is the destination of the passengers.
The second reference is the same as the first. The third reference gives the name of the ship, the part from which it sailed, the port at which it landed, and the date of landing. Note: Although the name is spelled differently, I have no doubt that this is the record of grandpa Christian Oehler's name on the passenger list. of the ship WESER. The improper spelling of the name is perhaps because Grandpa could not spell in English ant the one who entered it spelled like it sounded. The ship weser made a number of trips between 1853 and 1860. There were two trips in 1854 as shown above. the first landing at Galveston on 23 January, 1854 and the second on 3 December, 1854. Since the passenger list is compiled for all passengers arriving in 1854 there is no way of determining on which date the Oehlers landed. |
